About the role
Systems Engineer IMetroSys is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer I to join our Infrastructure Services team supporting enterprise environments for our clients. This role is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and supporting Windows-based infrastructure while working closely with senior engineers on server, virtualization, cloud, backup, and infrastructure projects.This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career infrastructure professional looking to grow their skills in systems administration, virtualization, Microsoft technologies, and enterprise operations. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and administer Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365.Monitor and maintain enterprise infrastructure including servers, virtualization platforms, storage, and backup systems.Assist with server provisioning, patch management, system upgrades, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.Perform routine health checks, preventive maintenance, and operational monitoring.Troubleshoot server, operating system, virtualization, and infrastructure issues while escalating complex incidents as needed.Support backup operations, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity initiatives.Participate in vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and infrastructure compliance activities.Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and operational procedures.Collaborate with networking, security, cloud, and service desk teams to resolve infrastructure issues.Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call support as required.Required QualificationsAssociate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.1–3 years of experience supporting Windows Server environments or enterprise infrastructure.Experience with: Microsoft Windows ServerActive DirectoryDNS and DHCPMicrosoft 365VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-VBackup and recovery technologiesBasic understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and infrastructure monitoring tools.Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer service skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or consulting environment.Microsoft Azure or hybrid cloud experience.Experience with Microsoft Intune or MECM/SCCM.Knowledge of ITIL service management practices.Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, or similar technical certifications.
