Mackay Marine is currently seeking experienced Marine Electronics Technicians (MET) with the skills and qualifications described below for our Seattle, WA location.
Marine Electronics Technician Job Summary: Under limited supervision, the Marine Electronics Technician (MET) will install, service, and repair electronic equipment onboard commercial ships, ferries, and fishing boats. The technician will test, adjust, and troubleshoot components as well as, loading, updating, and modifying software. Marine Electronics Technicians utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. Technicians also make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completing the service work, the technician will compose a detailed service report. Types of equipment serviced: · Radars · Electronic Charts · Satcoms · HF and VHF Radios · GPS · Gyrocompasses · Autopilots · Sounders · Sonars
Marine Electronics Technician Requirements: · 3+ Years of experience as a MET or ET in the commercial shipping, fishing, or pleasure craft industry or acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines. · Associate degree or equivalent training and experience. · Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application is required. · Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement & GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License is preferred. · Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather. · A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
