About the role

We value our talented employees, and whenever possible strive to help one of our associates grow professionally before recruiting new talent to our open positions. Our people make all the difference in our success. Compensation Grade ONS-USD-34 Who We AreINEOS Energy INEOS was founded in 1998 by Sir Jim Ratcliffe with a single site and has grown into one of the world's largest privately owned manufacturing groups. We have grown by buying good assets and running them better with small, empowered teams, minimal bureaucracy and a relentless focus on performance. INEOS Energy is building a global energy business, and our US Onshore team in Denver currently operates approximately 2,000 wells in the Eagle Ford shale play of South Texas. We are a small team with a big mandate: grow the business through disciplined development and acquisitions. About the jobJob Title: Production Engineer
Department: Operations
Summary of Position: We are seeking a Production Engineer with three or more years of experience to take ownership of a producing area within our Eagle Ford asset. This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who wants real accountability for results: you will own the production, deferment, operating cost and profitability of your area, partnering daily with field operations to troubleshoot problems, optimize artificial lift and deliver uplift. You will work in a lean team where engineers are expected to use data, automation and AI tools to move faster and make better decisions, and where good ideas are implemented quickly. What We Look ForUncompromising on safety. You stop work when something is not right and hold yourself and others to a high standard. Ownership and accountability. You run your area like your own business. You do what you say you will, own your results, good and bad, and raise problems early. Commercial instinct. You connect engineering work to value: barrels, dollars and returns. Technology and AI fluency. You are quick to adopt new tools, including AI assistants such as Claude, to automate routine work, analyze data faster and spend more time on engineering. Hands‑on. You are happy to build the analysis yourself and to be on location when it matters. Collaborative. You work well with others and earn the trust of operators, foremen and service partners. You raise challenges openly and respectfully. Continuous improvement. You learn from every failure and lookback, and you share what works so the whole team gets better. Primary Job ResponsibilitiesArea ownership: Own production, deferment, LOE and profitability for an assigned area. Understand all downtime, from underperformance to shut‑in, and drive it down. Present area performance in routine well‑by‑well reviews with management and the field, and support monthly, quarterly and annual SHE‑R, production, reliability and cost targets. Artificial lift: Design, optimize and troubleshoot rod pump, gas lift and plunger lift systems. Analyze and select the optimal lift type as well moves through their life. Surveillance and troubleshooting: Partner with field staff to diagnose and resolve well problems (e.g., holes in tubing, pump efficiency, liquid loading), using SCADA, telemetry and production data to prioritize the highest‑value work. Workovers and uplift: Identify workover and optimization opportunities; build economics, write AFEs and workover procedures, and support safe execution. Lookbacks and failure analysis: Perform post‑job lookbacks against cost and expected outcome. Lead root cause failure analysis on downhole failures, report trends monthly, and drive fixes into design and operating practice. Cost ownership: Own assigned asset cost categories (e.g., chemicals, plungers); forecast, track and reduce spend, and partner with leadership and procurement on vendor performance. Well integrity and TA/PA: Manage the temporary abandonment and plug and abandonment program and well integrity for your area. Data, automation and AI: Build and improve the tools the team relies on (dashboards, surveillance screens, analyses and AI‑assisted workflows) to replace manual work, surface exceptions faster and close data gaps with the right owners. Safety: Actively participate in the field safety program and strengthen process safety through effective controls and MOC discipline.
Education & Experience: Bachelor of Science in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of three years of upstream oil and gas experience, preferably with an operator in production or operations engineering in an unconventional play. Working knowledge of artificial lift (rod pump, gas lift and plunger lift), well surveillance, and workover design and execution. Ability to build sound economics (NPV, IRR, payback) and communicate clear recommendations to field staff and management. Proficiency with well data systems (e.g., WellView, ProdView, SCADA). Experience using SQL or AI tools (Claude, Copilot or similar) to automate workflows. A track record of delivering measurable results in production uplift, cost reduction or safety performance. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build credibility with field operations, service partners and multidisciplinary teams. Desire and willingness to spend regular time in the field supporting operations and understanding how work gets done. Travel & Additional RequirementsWork Location: Work is performed at both field and office locations.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
