Job Description: Position: Line Mechanic – Circle Packaging Machinery / Pouch Lines
Department: Engineering, Machining
Shift: 6:30a-3:30p M-F
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Job Description:
The Line Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the optimal performance of production line machinery and related equipment in our manufacturing facility. This position plays a key role in supporting product quality and efficient operations.
Note:
This position requires flexibility in scheduling. Work hours may vary based on business needs and may include evenings and weekends. Schedule changes will be communicated in advance in accordance with applicable local ordinances, including the Chicago Fair Workweek Ordinance.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Maintain and repair manufacturing and facility equipment as assigned
· Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical and operational issues
· Perform preventive maintenance tasks
· Complete and document work orders, including parts usage
· Conduct line changeovers, calibrations, and test setups
· Adjust equipment as needed for proper line operation
· Conduct routine inspections and report safety or performance issues
· Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members
· Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies
· Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
Education and Experience:
· Proficient with high-speed equipment, mechanical diagnostics, and repairs
· Minimum 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment with 2 years of experience on Circle Packaging Machinery Pouch Lines required
· Experience with tools and techniques related to hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, welding, and fabrication
· Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals to assist in troubleshooting and identifying parts needed for repairs
· Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
· Basic computer and math skills
· Willingness to learn and receive on-the-job training Physical demands/ essential job functions:
Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated and considered to enable an individual to perform the essential job functions.
