About the role

Do you find yourself building, coding, or experimenting with new technology even when nobody is asking you to? We're looking for a Robotics Software Engineer who genuinely enjoys solving problems, bringing ideas to life, and figuring things out that haven't been done before.
Job Summary: We're developing advanced robotic systems that tackle complex real-world challenges, and we're looking for someone who wants to help turn ambitious ideas into working technology. You'll contribute to robotics software development, system integration, and hands-on testing while working alongside a small, collaborative engineering team. This isn't a role where every problem comes with a set of instructions. You'll have the freedom to explore solutions, experiment with new technologies, and take ownership of your work. We value curiosity, creativity, and practical problem-solving just as much as professional experience.
What You'll Do: Develop and integrate robotics software using ROS2, Linux, C++, and Python to support robot operation and control. Connect sensors, hardware, and software components, troubleshoot communication issues, and document system diagrams. Build and test software alongside physical equipment, using results to refine designs and resolve problems. Propose practical solutions, scope experiments, and adjust your approach when time, cost, or technical constraints change. Collaborate with engineering teammates to solve unfamiliar problems, communicate progress, and deliver working systems. What You'll Bring At least 1 year of relevant engineering or software development experience, with approximately 2 to 8 years preferred. Hands-on experience with robotics software development, including ROS2, Linux, C++, and Python. Familiarity with robotics concepts, algorithms, control systems, communication protocols, and software development tools such as Git. Demonstrated experience building, experimenting, or solving technical problems through personal projects, makerspaces, fabrication labs, machine shops, or similar environments. A portfolio of independent projects that demonstrates your technical curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Strong troubleshooting skills, an eagerness to learn unfamiliar technologies, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment. A bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience is welcome. Experience with sensor integration, robotic navigation, electronics, or autonomous systems is a plus. We offer a target base salary range of $80,000 to $130,000 and a bonus opportunity. Lump-sum relocation assistance may be considered based on the candidate. This full-time role offers flexible hybrid work, with onsite collaboration and remote work when tasks allow. You'll put your technical curiosity into robots that inspect industrial infrastructure, working with a team that encourages experimentation, independent thinking, and practical problem-solving.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
