About the role
Do you enjoy helping others? Do you believe all people should have access to nutritious and healthy food? If so, come help community members gather groceries in a supportive environment! Play a vital role at the Lift UP food pantry serving people experiencing food insecurity in Northwest and Downtown Portland! Assist our team of dedicated volunteers with maintaining pantry "flow", assisting with food selection, restocking food, and making all clients feel welcome in our shopping-style pantry. This role provides a unique opportunity to connect with other volunteers and clients accessing services. We are seeking one volunteer to regularly assist on Tuesdays from 2-6pm, one for Thursdays from 2-6pm, and two people to regularly assist on Fridays 2-4:30 or 2-6pm, and occasional subs for each of those days. This role requires the ability to lift up to 40lbs intermittently and stand continuously for four hours. Watch our video to learn more: Debi's Story-A Client/Volunteer Pantry Perspective
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
