Job Type: Full-TimeWe are working with a well-established law firm in the Rockville, MD area that is seeking an experienced Trust & Estates Paralegal to support attorneys across estate planning, estate administration, probate, litigation, and guardianship matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who enjoys working directly with clients and has strong experience managing the administrative and financial aspects of estate matters.
Responsibilities: Support attorneys with all aspects of estate administration, estate planning, probate, litigation, and guardianship proceedings. Draft, edit, and file legal pleadings and correspondence, including probate petitions, discovery, subpoenas, deeds, wills, and related documents. Communicate extensively with clients throughout the probate and estate administration process. Assist with identifying and obtaining valuations of estate assets and coordinating their distribution. Communicate with beneficiaries, tax professionals, financial institutions, and other parties involved in estate administration. Maintain detailed financial records for accounting and tax purposes. Analyze and compile financial information, including income, expenses, sales, and distributions, into detailed reports for Court review and approval. Research updates and revisions to probate procedures and applicable laws. Assist attorneys with preparation for court hearings and trials. Maintain organized and accurate client files using Clio or similar case management software. Process and accurately record financial transactions related to clients, real estate settlements, and restitution orders. Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys as needed.
Qualifications: 3+ years of paralegal experience, preferably within Trust & Estates, Probate, or a related practice area. Experience with estate administration and probate matters strongly preferred. Strong legal writing, drafting, and organizational skills. Comfortable working directly with clients and handling sensitive financial and personal information. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines. Experience preparing court filings and other legal documents. Strong financial and accounting skills, including the ability to review and organize detailed financial information. Experience with Clio or another legal case management system is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently while providing strong support to attorneys and clients.
