About the role
Job Description:
Studio 41 is a leader in the kitchen and bath industry, headquartered in Chicago, IL. We continue to grow the business from both our established Chicago showroom locations and expanding into new markets across the United States. The company is seeking a highly motivated Lighting Sales Specialist to become an integral part of our sales team. The Lighting Specialist is responsible for delivering an exceptional client experience while driving sales of decorative and functional lighting products to trades and homeowners in a retail setting. The ideal candidate is passionate about lighting design, detail-oriented, and motivated to exceed sales goals.
The sales associate at Studio 41 is an in-store position that requires showroom coverage during store hours. The desired candidates must be motivated self-starters, people who can envision success and apply themselves toward achieving their goals. Strong product knowledge and an understanding of the design process are essential, from a relatively simple stocked product project to a complete home remodel.
You must be able to demonstrate your ability to handle customers from initial contact through completion of a project; share some stories of good and bad experiences you have had with customers in this line of work. Be prepared to discuss your previous experience and take us through your process and skills.
Responsibilities:
Daily showroom coverage in-store, handling trade accounts and walk-in customers.
Produce sales revenue to meet monthly targets established by your annual sales goal. Maintain the gross profit margin above established minimums for each product line.
Establish payment terms with customers according to company policies and procedures.
Maintain product knowledge and keep current with industry trends and innovations.
Timely follow up and follow through on customer bids and orders. Keep customers informed and oversee order processing until the product has been delivered to the customer’s satisfaction.
Build and maintain business relationships with trade professionals in home construction and remodeling industries. Provide design walk-through, measurement, and blue-print takeoff services as warranted for the customer to ensure high quality service and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
2+ years of retail experience in lighting sales
Ability to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
Strong understanding of lighting design principles
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-through abilities
Account management experience with trade professionals and a track record of sales performance and ability to grow customer base.
Bachelor’s degree desired.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
