About the role
Accountancy Board Membership Total public members: 5. Appointment type: Appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council. Term length (years): 3. Residency: District residency required, with strong preference for representation from all 8 wards. Paid board: No (all roles are voluntary).The Board shall regulate the practice of public accountants and certified public accountants. The Board shall consist of the following 5 members:4 certified public accountants; and1 consumer member. Professional members shall be licensed in the District and, at the time of their appointments, have been engaged in their practice for a period of not less than 3 years. Consumer Members shall: Be at least 18 years of age; Not be a practitioner of a profession or occupation supervised by that board, or in training to become one; Not have a household member who is a practitioner of a profession or occupation supervised by that board, or in training to become one; and Not own, operate, or be employed in or have a household member who owns, operates, or is employed in a business which has as its primary purpose the sale of goods or services to practitioners of a profession or occupation supervised by that board.
