Elementary Library Clerk
Location: Allendale Elementary
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Shall maintain updated awareness of the school district administrative procedures, organization, policies, regulations, etc.
  • Epitomize the image of professional confidentiality, dependability, efficiency and integrity so necessary of all secretarial staff.
  • Prepare agenda item materials on those areas of responsibilities of the Librarian.
  • Available for attendance at meetings as requested by the principal.
  • Shall collect, deposit and record all monies for the library.
  • Shall unpack materials received and check orders.
  • Shall laminate and dry mount visuals.
  • Shall handle office duties consisting of typing, filing, telephoning, etc.
  • Shall clean and repair resources.
  • Shall help prepare library reports.
  • Shall assist in maintaining an orderly library (resources).Including barcoding all books, checking in and out books and re-shelving on a weekly basis.
  • Shall keep record of fines collected.
  • Shall inventory all library resources.
  • Shall remove infrequently used or excessively worn books.
  • Gather materials for teachers.
  • Update the library bulletin board.
  • Assist Teachers and/or guest teachers who are having trouble with logins.
  • Shall distribute chromebooks, troubleshoot with students who are having trouble logging into chromebooks, send out chromebooks for repairs.
  • Replace student chargers or headphones as needed; collect fees for broken technology.
  • Shall be responsible for overdue notices and quarterly reports to the principal and communicate library fines to parents; Debt slips to be sent out on a weekly basis
  • Assist school secretary as directed by the principal.
  • Responsible for the organization, purchasing, and maintaining the school's leveled libraries.
  • Shall inventory, requisition and maintain supplies necessary for the operation of the library.
  • Shall perform any other related library duties assigned by the principal.
  • Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Successful completion of district approved clerical assessment.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Willingness to learn technological advances when necessary.
  • Knowledge of the Destiny program used for importing and exporting library books.
  • Working Schedule and Rate of Pay:42 week per year position 8hrs/day
  • Pay rate as listed in collective bargaining agreement New employee starting pay rate $19.76/hour
