Pay Range:
$18.00hr - $23.00hr Preparing Materials: Reading and interpreting blueprints: Analyze technical drawings, welding symbols, and blueprints to understand the specifications for each welding job. Cleaning and inspecting materials: Ensure the surfaces to be welded are clean, free from rust, oil, or debris, and properly aligned for accurate welding. Measuring and cutting materials: Use tools like plasma cutters, angle grinders, or torches to cut metal to required sizes before welding. Setting Up and Maintaining Equipment: Selecting the right welding technique: Choose the appropriate welding method (MIG, TIG, Stick, or FCAW) based on the type of metal, thickness, and project requirements. Setup and configuring welding machines: Set up welding machines and adjust settings (e.g., amperage, voltage, wire speed) according to the type of material and desired outcome. Testing equipment: Test the functionality of the welding machine, ensuring that it operates properly before starting any work. Regular machine maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding machines, including cleaning and replacing worn parts like nozzles, tips, or electrodes. Troubleshooting issues: Diagnose and fix minor issues with welding equipment or report them to maintenance for repair. Performing Welding Operations: Executing welds: Perform the actual welding tasks according to specifications, ensuring precision and consistency in bead appearance, penetration, and alignment. Joining materials: Use various welding techniques to join metal components in structural frameworks, piping systems, machinery parts, or industrial equipment. Performing spot welding: In sheet metal applications, execute spot welds to join thin sheets of metal. Welding in different positions: Weld in different positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead) depending on project needs. Visual inspection of welds: Continuously monitor the welds for defects such as porosity, cracks, or incomplete penetration during the process. Applying Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Use methods such as ultrasonic testing or X-rays to inspect welds in critical applications, such as pipelines or pressure vessels. Measuring and testing final welds: Use tools like calipers, micrometers, or gauges to ensure welds meet the project's size, angle, and depth specifications. Maintaining Safety Standards: Following safety protocols: Adhere to industry safety standards, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), handling hazardous materials, and maintaining fire prevention measures. Ensuring proper ventilation: For indoor welding, ensure there is adequate ventilation to prevent the inhalation of harmful fumes. Fire hazard control: Continuously monitor the workspace for fire hazards, especially when welding near flammable materials. Repairing or Modifying Metal Components: Rewelding or repairing defective joints: Identify any issues in completed welds and perform necessary repairs to meet the required quality standards. Modifying existing structures: Make modifications to metal components and structures as needed, including cutting and re-welding as per new project demands. Post-Welding Finishing Tasks: Grinding and smoothing: Use grinders, sanders, or polishing tools to smooth out weld seams and joints for a clean finish. Cleaning the weld area: Remove slag, flux, and any residue to ensure the welded area is clean and presentable. Applying anti-corrosion treatments: In certain projects, apply anti-corrosion coatings, such as paint or sealants, to protect the welds and ensure longevity. Documentation and Reporting: Documenting welds: Keep accurate records of completed welds, including the types of materials used, welding procedures, and any test results. Reporting defects or issues: Report any welding defects, equipment malfunctions, or quality issues to supervisors or project managers. Maintaining logbooks: Record daily activities, safety checks, and equipment inspections in logbooks to ensure traceability and quality control.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
