About the role
York is seekinga Senior Flight Dynamics Engineerto lead the design, analysis, and on-orbit support of spacecraft flight dynamics and mission analysis across a range of commercial and national security missions. This individual will serve as a technical leader within the Flight Dynamics team, working across multiple programs to define subsystem architecture, develop algorithms and models, support verification and flight operations, and mentor junior engineers. This role will be fully on-site in our Greenwood Village, CO office.
Responsibilities:
- Developandvalidateflight dynamics softwarepartneringwith mission operations, spacecraft subsystems, and software engineering teams to support mission design, on-orbitoperations, and contractphases
- Design and analyze constellation architectures, including orbital regimes, plane spacing, phasing strategies, and deployment concepts
- Own mission and system level analysisensuring space vehicle designs meetor exceed requirements across subsystems
- Define and maintain high-fidelity simulation environments to support development of mission architecture and day in the life analysis for a variety of different missions
- Lead development of mission concept of operations
- Identify, create, and use availabletoolsto model and analyzea givensystem’sperformance and capabilityin relation to mission objectives
- Perform trade studies forvarious mission designsto meetcontactcoverage, lifetime, regulatory requirements, andvalidatemissionfeasibility
- Serve as the flight dynamics/mission analysis technical interface to systems engineering, flight software, avionics, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and mission operations teams to ensure mission objectives are understood and supported by product design
- Prepare for and present at internal and customer design reviews as a flight dynamics subject matter expert
- Support spacecraft mission operations, and anomaly investigation using telemetry and flight data during planning and execution phases
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the development of team processes, standards, and best practices
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computerscience, physicsor related technical field from accredited university 4+ years of experience in spacecraft GNC, mission analysis, orbit analysis, flight dynamics systems or similar(salary based on experience).Strong background in orbital dynamics, spacecraft subsystems, andtheir relation to each other Demonstrated experience analyzing spacecraft dynamics, controltheory, and propulsion performance for trajectory design and constellation geometry Demonstrated ability to lead technical work across multiple disciplines and mentor junior engineers Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and presentation skills Collaborative and effective in team environments Proficiencywith industry-standard tools such as STK, GMAT, or equivalent Proficiency with Python software development Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship required PreferredQualificationsMaster’s degree in aerospace engineering, computerscience, physicsor related technical field from accredited university ExperiencewithNASA ORDEM, NASA BUMPER, NASA DAS, NASA MEM3Experience with implementing automation across simulation architectures Familiarity with conjunction assessmentapproaches andcollision avoidance workflows Currently active security clearance
