Full job descriptionJob Title: Experienced AccountantCompany: Edwards Tree ServiceLocation: Amherst, OhioEmployment Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k) planMedical benefitsPaid vacation and sick timeKey Responsibilities: Serve as primary owner of the General Ledger and monthly financial statement preparation for multiple companies (monthly close) Perform monthly bank reconciliations (manual and software-generated) for up to 8 companiesPrepare year-end schedules and documentation for external CPAsManage payroll tax filings online at Federal, State, and Local levels, including use of Ohio Business Gateway and other state portalsProcess 401(k) weekly payments and prepare annual census informationAdminister workers’ compensation annual true-up and maintain awareness of out-of-state workers’ compensation and tax issuesPrepare and file Sales Tax returns monthly for multiple companies; file IFTA quarterly and Heavy Vehicle Use Tax annuallySupport FMCSA, ODOT, KDOT, PENNDOT requirements and maintain records to meet regulatory complianceMaintain record retention systems and ensure confidentiality of sensitive informationApply for relevant grants and manage associated reporting (including SURWSP/OBWC grant opportunities) Maintain out-of-state licensing support (e.g., West Virginia, Kentucky) and Master Logger certifications across states as neededAssist with notary duties and maintain good documentation practicesRequired Skills & Experience: Proven experience with online payroll tax filings (Federal, State, Local) Proficiency in Foundation software, Quicken, Excel, and WordFamiliarity with Ohio Business Gateway (preferred) Experience performing bank reconciliations for multiple entitiesStrong general ledger and month-end close experienceExperience with 401(k) remittances and annual census processesKnowledge of workers’ compensation true-ups and multi-state compliance issuesSales tax filing experience and familiarity with IFTA and Heavy Vehicle Use TaxExperience preparing year-end schedules for CPAsStrong documentation, record retention, and confidentiality practicesNotary commission or willingness to become a notaryAbility to research and apply for grantsKnowledge of FMCSA requirements and state DOT regulations (ODOT, KDOT, PENNDOT) Multi-state licensing or the ability to coordinate licensing (WV, KY) and Master Logger requirements is a plusTo Apply: Email resume to smetro@edwardstree.com or stop into office at location below49090 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amhest, Ohio 44001 Equal Opportunity EmployerWork Location: In person
