About the role
We are seeking a hands-on Fraud Risk & Controls Analytics Specialist to support fraud risk management through control testing, data analytics, continuous monitoring, and anomaly detection. This individual contributor role will combine internal controls expertise with advanced analytics to identify control gaps, fraud indicators, and operational vulnerabilities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ICFR, SOX, operational control testing, and data-driven fraud detection, with the ability to build and execute testing procedures in an evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and execute data-driven control testing across financial, operational, and fraud risk areas.
Develop continuous monitoring and analytical solutions using SQL, Python, Power BI, ACL, IDEA, or similar tools.
Analyze large datasets to identify anomalies, control gaps, unusual transactions, and potential fraud indicators.
Evaluate control effectiveness and recommend improvements to strengthen the control environment.
Support hotline/intake activities, analyze relevant data, and prepare structured findings for investigation teams.
Collaborate with Finance, Internal Audit, Risk, Technology, and control owners to improve ICFR and operational fraud controls.
Automate manual control testing and develop repeatable analytics for ongoing monitoring.
Perform root-cause analysis and communicate actionable recommendations to leadership.
Help establish and mature fraud risk management processes, testing methodologies, and monitoring frameworks.
Prepare clear documentation, test results, analytical findings, and management reporting.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
Strong hands-on experience in ICFR, SOX compliance, operational control testing, internal audit, or fraud risk.
Demonstrated experience personally designing and executing control tests and analytical procedures.
Strong data analytics skills using SQL, Python, Power BI, ACL, IDEA, or similar tools.
Experience using data analytics to automate control testing and detect fraud/anomalies.
Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, testing methodologies, and control remediation.
Ability to work independently in an evolving and unstructured environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear business recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with fraud risk management, continuous controls monitoring, or fraud analytics.
Experience supporting federally funded organizations, infrastructure, transportation, construction, or project-intensive environments.
Experience with forensic analytics or investigation support.
Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CPA, CFE, or equivalent are a plus.
