Job Title: Private Credit Operations Consultant
Duration: Approximately 6 months, with potential extension Contract-to-Hire: Possible
Location: Boston, MA or New York, NY (Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite)
Position Overview:
Seeking a senior Private Credit Operations Consultant to support the launch of a new rated note fund serviced by a third-party fund administrator. This role will provide strategic and hands-on expertise across private credit and fund operations, helping design operating models, establish procedures, support operational readiness, and oversee administrator relationships. The consultant will collaborate closely with operations, finance, data, and technology teams to develop scalable processes and ensure a successful fund launch.
Key Responsibilities:
Operating Model & Process Design Define the target operating model, including responsibilities between internal teams and the fund administrator. Develop operating procedures and playbooks across key operational workstreams. Establish standards for capturing deal terms, modifications, and lifecycle events across systems. Advise on optimal allocation of operational responsibilities between internal teams and external administrators. Operational Readiness & Risk Management Identify operational risks, control points, process gaps, and exception management procedures. Support operational readiness assessments and remediation planning. Evaluate readiness for various loan structures and implement supporting processes. Fund Administrator Oversight Assist in defining and validating Service Level Agreements (SLAs).Establish oversight frameworks, reconciliation processes, review responsibilities, and escalation procedures. Support governance models for third-party administrator relationships. Data & Reporting Define loan and fund data requirements for compliance, reporting, and testing activities. Partner with data and technology teams to ensure accurate data sourcing and governance. Identify and resolve root causes of data quality issues through sustainable process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in private credit operations, loan operations, fund operations, or fund administration. Strong understanding of the private credit loan lifecycle, including revolving and delayed draw facilities. Experience managing relationships with third-party fund administrators and implementing oversight models. Proven ability to create operational procedures, playbooks, RACI matrices, and SLA documentation. Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills within matrixed organizations. Ability to operate effectively in both strategic and hands-on execution roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with rated note funds or rated note feeder structures. Knowledge of compliance, waterfall calculations, and rating agency reporting requirements. Experience supporting fund launches and operational readiness initiatives. Familiarity with loan administration platforms and IBOR/ABOR environments. Understanding of private credit products including direct lending, broadly syndicated loans, unitranche, and mezzanine investments. Experience working with third-party fund administrators. Exposure to platforms such as WSO, eFront, Allvue, or similar systems.
Additional Preferred Skills:
Experience with restructurings, workouts, and distressed credit scenarios. Familiarity with AI tools used for process documentation, data analysis, and operational efficiency. CFA, CPA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
