Alongside New York, we have a deep presence in Europe (London, Paris, Madrid, Monaco, Geneva) and Asia (Dubai, Hong Kong), giving our US legal finance business direct access to European and Asian institutional capital.
The role:
Lead our US credit-focused legal finance business: originate, structure and place capital markets transactions for law firms. The group has other legal finance desks. This one is independent and reports directly to the firm leadership. We are arrangers, not case funders. We do not finance individual cases. We structure law-firm financings as credit transactions (portfolio-backed facilities, term loans, syndications and securitizations) and place them with institutional credit investors.
Responsibilities:
- Originate financing mandates from US law firms, primarily contingency-fee and mass tort practices
- Structure deals from a credit investor's perspective: collateral, covenants, cash-flow waterfalls, pricing
- Place transactions with private credit funds, insurers, banks and family offices
- Lead execution through to closing: diligence, documentation, investor negotiation
- Build the US franchise and team
Requirements:
- Must be based in the US15+ years in structured credit, specialty finance, leveraged finance or legal finance
- Proven origination record with law firms, or a transferable book of credit investors
- Closed transactions as lead structurer or arrangerFINRA Series 7/63/79, or ability to obtain them
