About the role
THE HEALTHCARE INITIATIVEWhere Talent Meets Opportunity
Nurse Director of Emergency ServicesSouthwest | PermanentWe are working on a Director of Emergency Services opportunity with a rural/community hospital in the Southwest that is preparing for meaningful ED growth.
The next Director will be there while that growth happens — with the opportunity to influence staffing, patient flow, workflows, team development, and how the department operates with significantly more capacity.
The hospital is small, but it has strong recent momentum. It has been recognized for improvement in clinical operations, employee engagement, patient experience, quality, and organizational efficiency, along with recognition specifically tied to Emergency Care and Emergency Timeliness.
Why This Role Stands Out15,000 ED visits annually
Currently 3 treatment rooms plus 5 overflow spaces
Planned expansion to 9 treatment rooms
Multiple consecutive Leapfrog “A” Hospital Safety Grades
Opportunity to help shape the next phase of Emergency Services rather than simply inherit an established model
For the right leader, the smaller setting is part of the appeal. The Director is close to the operation, has direct access to hospital leadership, knows the team, and can see the impact of decisions without navigating layers of a large system.
Life in the SouthwestLocated in the Southwest, this community offers a quieter pace of life with easy access to the open landscapes and outdoor recreation the region is known for.
The community also offers a lower-cost lifestyle than many larger Southwest markets, year-round outdoor recreation, and convenient air access to major hubs. Hiking, biking, camping, scenic drives, state and national parks, and expansive desert and mountain terrain provide plenty to explore outside of work.
For someone who prefers a community-oriented setting with more space, less congestion, and easy access to the outdoors, the location offers a very different lifestyle from a larger metropolitan market.
RequirementsBSN required, Master’s preferred
Candidates enrolled in an accredited BSN program with a scheduled completion date may be considered
3+ years of progressive healthcare leadership experience
Certification in a clinical specialty or nursing administration preferred
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
