Accounting Specialist Adventure Science Center's mission is to ignite curiosity, empower exploration, and cultivate deeper connections to the world of science.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a range of supportive accounting functions. This role offers opportunities for professional growth, and as knowledge, skills, and expertise are demonstrated, responsibilities will expand to include entering invoices, managing the shared purchasing mailbox, communicating with vendors, maintaining accounts payable documentation, processing change orders, reconciling petty cash, completing monthly account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, depositing checks, and other accounting and administrative support tasks as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Support Accounts Payable process
Support Cash Management process Prepare monthly reports Prepare journal entries along with supporting documentation Perform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma required. An Associate's degree, progress toward a college degree, or relevant professional experience is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including composing business emails. Professional appearance and demeanor. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Strong organizational skills with the ability to be detail-oriented, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy. Ability to foster a positive and cooperative work environment across departments. High level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Commitment to excellent customer service and continuous improvement for both internal and external stakeholders. SPECIAL CONDITIONSThe work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations. Typically, walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items (up to 20 pounds unassisted), and 50 lbs assisted are required. At times, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Also, the employee must have manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity. Some repetitive motion is involved.
