Medical Director / Psychiatrist Full-Time Preferred | Part-Time & Flexible Arrangements Considered Ponessa Behavioral Health is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director and provide clinical leadership for our established behavioral health organization serving communities throughout Central Pennsylvania. While our preference is to identify a psychiatrist interested in a full-time Medical Director position, we recognize that the right physician may already have an established practice, academic appointment, or other professional commitments. We are therefore open to full-time, part-time, flexible, and hybrid arrangements for an exceptional candidate. Responsibilities: The Medical Director will provide medical and psychiatric leadership for PBH's psychiatric services and work collaboratively with the CEO, psychiatric providers, nursing leadership, clinical Directors, and Quality/Compliance team.
Key responsibilities include: Provide psychiatric and clinical leadership for PBH's psychiatric services Establish and maintain standards for high-quality psychiatric care Provide clinical consultation and guidance to psychiatric providers, nursing staff, and organizational leadership Participate in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and clinical policy development Provide appropriate physician oversight and supervision consistent with applicable regulations and professional standards Support recruitment, onboarding, and clinical evaluation of psychiatric providers Participate in required clinical meetings and interdisciplinary consultation Collaborate with organizational leadership regarding the continued development and evolution of psychiatric services Maintain an agreed-upon clinical caseload appropriate to the physician's overall schedule and Medical Director responsibilities The specific balance of clinical care, administrative leadership, on-site presence, and remote work will be developed collaboratively based upon the candidate's experience, interests, and availability, as well as PBH's regulatory and operational requirements.
Qualifications: MD or DO from an accredited medical school Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry Current unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license or eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure Strong clinical judgment and commitment to high-quality psychiatric care Excellent communication and collaborative leadership skills Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary behavioral health environment Leadership experience preferred; previous Medical Director experience is not required Experience in community behavioral health, outpatient psychiatry, Medicaid-funded services, child and adolescent psychiatry, or interdisciplinary behavioral healthcare is valued but not required.
Compensation & Benefits: Ponessa Behavioral Health offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, schedule, and structure of the position. Full-time, part-time, and flexible arrangements will be considered. Sign-on and/or relocation assistance may also be considered for the right candidate.
