About the role
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Work Schedule: Onsite, Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Employment Type: Long Term Contract-to-hire
We are hiring multiple engineers to join a growing R&D software development team building next-generation, cloud-connected software products. This team is focused on integrating modern AI/ML, cloud, and software-development capabilities into an established suite of commercial applications. The team operates in an open-office, startup-style setting and works onsite due to the highly collaborative nature of the work.
What You’ll Do:
Design, develop, test, and deploy new software services and product capabilities.
Build cloud-based applications, backend services, APIs, and integrations.
Contribute to AI/ML-enabled features and modern software solutions.
Collaborate with software engineers, cloud/DevOps engineers, and AI/ML specialists on new product development.
Help evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including LLMs and machine-learning frameworks.
Improve the scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability of software systems.
Participate in an agile, collaborative R&D environment with regular cross-functional communication.
Desired Technical Background:
Candidates do not need experience with every technology listed. The team is looking for engineers with strong experience in at least one primary programming language, along with interest or exposure to cloud, AI/ML, DevOps, or modern application development.
Relevant experience may include:
- Software development with Python, Java, C#, and/or TypeScriptBackend engineering, API development, microservices, or distributed systems
- Cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure
- Containerization and deployment tools such as DockerDevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, or release engineeringAI/ML development, machine-learning model integration, data pipelines, or MLOpsExposure to LLMs, generative AI, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or related frameworks
- Working in agile product-development or R&D environments
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, AI/ML engineering, or a related discipline.
Hands-on proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, Java, C#, or TypeScript.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative onsite engineering team.
Ability to work onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
U.S. Citizenship
Nice to Have:
Experience building, deploying, or supporting cloud-native applications.
Experience integrating AI/ML models or generative AI capabilities into production applications.
Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, LLMs, MLOps, or data engineering workflows.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
