Senior Platform Engineerup to $220k + equity | New York / flexible hybridI’m working with a fast-growing US AI company that is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build and operate the infrastructure behind a highly complex, large-scale technology platform. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data ingestion, storage and retrieval. The platform operates at significant scale, handling tens of billions of images and large volumes of production data, so the team is looking for someone who is comfortable making architectural decisions around reliability, performance, storage and scalability. What you’ll be working onLarge-scale data ingestion and storage systems Distributed storage and retrieval architecture Object storage and database infrastructure Containerised services running in productionAWS, Kubernetes and TerraformCI/CD, infrastructure as code and GitOps workflows High-throughput messaging and streaming systems Observability, reliability and incident response Architecture and technical decision-making across the platform This is not a pure DevOps or infrastructure support role. The team is looking for someone with a strong software engineering background who can build, debug and operate production systems end to end. You’ll ideally have:5+ years of professional software engineering experience Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production Experience building or operating large-scale distributed systems Exposure to high-volume data ingestion, storage or retrieval systems Strong experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CDSoftware engineering experience with languages such as Rust, Python or GoA good understanding of reliability, scalability and architectural trade-offs Experience with petabyte-scale data, distributed databases, Kafka, vector databases or large-scale search/indexing systems would be particularly relevant.
