Bridge Inspection Project Manager

Indianapolis or Lafayette, INAbout the Opportunity We are representing an established engineering consultancy in the search for a Bridge Inspection Project Manager to join its bridge inspection team in Indiana. This is an opportunity for an experienced bridge or transportation engineer to take responsibility for the inspection and management of in-service bridges and culverts throughout Indiana, combining project management responsibilities with hands-on field inspection work. The ideal candidate will bring an Indiana PE license, previous bridge or transportation experience, and either an INDOT-certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader qualification or the ability to obtain it within one year.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage budgets, schedules and workload for bridge and small structure inspection contracts. Lead and coordinate inspection teams throughout project delivery. Perform field inspections of in-service bridges and culverts across Indiana. Work in teams of two to assess bridge and small structure conditions. Review and approve bridge inspection reports. Review and approve load rating calculations. Evaluate structural deficiencies and recommend appropriate major work or repairs. Prioritize repair recommendations based on severity, condition and need. Develop cost estimates for recommended bridge repairs and major work. Communicate effectively with internal project teams, clients and other stakeholders. Coordinate project activities to ensure inspection work is delivered accurately and on schedule. Occasionally support the bridge design department with calculations and plan development. Ideal Background Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required. Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) license required. INDOT-certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader preferred, or ability to obtain within 1 year. Previous bridge or transportation engineering experience required. Experience with bridge inspections, condition assessments and/or load ratings preferred. Strong understanding of bridge deficiencies, repair recommendations and prioritization. Experience managing project budgets, schedules and workloads. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working directly with clients and project teams. Valid driver’s license required. Willingness to travel throughout Indiana and work in the field several days per week. Opportunity This role would suit an experienced Bridge Engineer / Bridge Inspection Engineer / Bridge Inspection Project Manager looking to take on greater responsibility across both project management and field inspection activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing bridge inspection contracts throughout Indiana, while contributing to bridge condition assessments, load ratings, repair recommendations and project delivery.
