Role Description:
The Assistant Photographer is a full-time, on-site role based in Lafayette, LA. This position supports the lead photographer in planning and executing photo shoots, including preparing equipment, setting up lighting, and organizing backdrops or locations. Daily tasks include assisting with shot composition, capturing images under direction, and ensuring files are properly labeled, stored, and backed up. The role also involves coordinating schedules, helping manage props and models, and maintaining equipment in good working condition. The Assistant Photographer collaborates with the research and marketing teams to produce high-quality visual content that aligns with Datasection Inc.’s brand and project objectives.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated skills in digital photography, including basic camera operation and an understanding of composition and lighting. Experience assisting on photo or video shoots, with the ability to follow creative direction and support efficient workflow. Familiarity with photo editing software (such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom) and basic image retouching and file management. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in labeling, cataloging, and archiving images. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work professionally with internal teams and external participants. Ability to stand, move equipment, and work on-site for extended periods; comfortable working in studio and field environments. Interest in visual storytelling for business or market research applications; prior experience in commercial or corporate photography is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or coursework in photography, visual arts, or media is preferred.
