About the role

Student Assistant-A&G - Communications & ExhibitsThe Communications and Public Engagement section of the Communications Department leads internal and external communications on behalf of SwRI, its broad technical programs, and its staff. Responsibilities include managing media relations, websites, magazines, press releases, brochures, flyers, and more.Objectives of this Role:Support the Communications and Public Engagement section of the Communications Department, ensuring SwRI is represented well by complete and undamaged booth equipment and graphics at trade shows.Help ensure safety by training staff members on proper setup and teardown of exhibit booth equipment.Assist with other tasks related to trade show production, events, and meetings.Exposure to various types of marketing including graphic design, printed pieces, and digital marketing.Local year-round student position.Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:Check shipments returning from trade shows to ensure inventory is complete.Set up and check outbound and returning equipment to ensure functionality and note needed repairs.Pull, prep, pack, and label cases for outgoing shipments and deliver or pick up items on campus as needed.Use trade show management software to track trade show timelines, tasks, and inventory.Onsite assistance with corporate meetings and events such as Annual Meeting, SwRI Day, and others.Help set up meeting rooms.Requirements:Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business, English, Communications, or directly related degree field.Strong interpersonal and written communications skills and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.Extremely detail oriented, deadline oriented, and organized.Ability to work as part of a team while also able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.Competence with Microsoft Office Suite.A valid/clear driver's license is required.Job Locations: San Antonio, TexasAn Equal Employment Opportunity Employer: race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, and veteran status.
