Deli Clerk/Cashier - Van Horn

Job Description: Sourdough Fuel is a division of Petro Star Inc., a subsidiary of ASRC. It operates three gas stations in the Fairbanks area. These stations contain convenience stores with grocery, merchandise, propane, tobacco, and Hot Stuff Pizza franchises. Only the Hilltop and Farmer's Loop stations are licensed to sell alcohol. Sourdough Fuel also operates the Hilltop Truck Stop, grocery store, and fuel station on the Alaskan Haul Road. Sourdough Fuel is seeking highly motivated individuals for employment in a friendly retail environment. We have jobs available in the food service and retail fuel industry and will cross train successful applicants for both.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: A cashier is responsible for providing great customer service, processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, performs cash register operations and safeguarding PSI Sourdough Fuel assets according to established procedures. Operate cash registers when receiving payment for cash, credit/debit cards or other; issue receipts, and process change/refunds/credits. Count money in cash drawer at the beginning/end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and has adequate change. Maintain clean and orderly check out areas and other general cleaning duties such as sweeping/mopping floors, emptying trash cans and other. Stock shelves with merchandise and mark prices on shelves and items. Assist/ensure that customers receive outstanding service by providing friendly environment which includes greeting customers, maintaining outstanding standards, and providing solid product knowledge. Operate/monitor gas pump dispensers; including dispensing propane safely using established guidelines. Prepare and serve deli style food and keep deli area clean. Sort & stock resale merchandise. Work in cold and hot environments within the store. Pump fuel & propane. Keep store clean and other related tasks to improve and maintain general appearance of store. Mop floors, clean counters and kitchen equipment. If age 21 or older, will legally sell tobacco products. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Cash register experience preferred. Employees selling tobacco and alcohol products must be 21 years and older and must have successfully completed the 'We Card' training program prior to performing sales duties.
