Full TimeDate Available:8/1/2026 The Vice President of Marketing and Communications provides executive leadership for all marketing, branding, and communications that advance the mission, visibility, and value of Canopy REALTOR Association and its related entities: Canopy MLS, Canopy Housing Foundation, and Canopy Real Estate Institute. This role is responsible for shaping organizational strategy across communications, digital marketing, public relations, media relations, events, and broker engagement while leading a four-person team, and managing agency and vendor partnerships.
Summary of job functions:
- Strategic Leadership and Communications
- Serve as senior communications advisor to executive leadership, the Association board of directors, the MLS board of directors, and the foundation board of directors
- Lead integrated communication strategies across digital, print, media, and social channels
- Lead the Brand Ambassador Program by training new ambassadors and equipping more than 300-plus ambassadors with key messaging to share with their sphere of influence
- Ensure brand consistency across all platforms and initiatives
- Oversee speaking and industry recognition efforts
- Guide analytics and performance measurement
- Marketing and Brand Strategy
- Develop and execute organization-wide and targeted marketing plans
- Serve as chief copywriter for major initiatives and consumer education campaigns
- Launch and evolve marketing programs that support revenue, growth and member value
- Digital, Media and Content Oversight
- Oversee staff responsible for website strategy, content governance, and digital channel integration
- Guide social media strategy working collaboratively with staff and the marketing agency
- Oversee staff responsible for podcasts, videos, market reports and year-in-review publications
- Oversee staff responsible for media relations, press releases and spokesperson training and messaging
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with national industry trade publications
- Team and Operational Management
- Lead and develop the marketing and communications staff consisting of an Integrated Digital Marketing Manager, Research and Media Relations Specialist, Creative Services and Events Specialist, and Broker Relations Manager
- Manage the department's budget, resources and vendor relationships
- Determine resources and engagement with advertising agencies, media buyers, freelancers, and event planners
- Events, Broker Relations and Community Engagement
- Guide strategy and execution of major member events and large scale trade show
- Oversee broker relations outreach, MLS training initiatives, and technology rollouts
- Build strategic alliances with industry and community organizations
- Represent the organization at professional associations and leadership forums
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English or related field 10+ years of progressive marketing and communications experience
- Proven people-leader with experience managing teams and complex initiatives
- Strong strategic thinking, creativity, and execution skills
- Exceptional written, verbal and presentation abilities
Preferred Experience:
- Non-profit, trade association, or real estate industry experience
- Event planning and large-scale program management
- Grants, endowments, or foundation exposure
- Experience leading through organization change, growth, or mergers
