About the Company: A growing interior design and renovation firm serving residential and commercial clients across [region]. As project volume expands, we're building out our people operations to support both our office/design team and our field workforce.
About the Role: We're hiring an HR Generalist (3–5 years of experience) to own day-to-day HR for a mixed workforce of office/design staff and blue-collar field crews (carpenters, painters, installers, site workers). You'll be the bridge between the office and the field — from recruiting skilled tradespeople to resolving on-site employee issues.
Key Responsibilities: Full-cycle recruiting for blue-collar/field roles: sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding carpenters, painters, installers, helpers, and site supervisors Partner with project managers to forecast field staffing needs across active renovation projects Own onboarding: I-9/E-Verify, new-hire paperwork, and orientations for both office and field staff Serve as the primary HR point of contact for blue-collar employees — employee relations, grievances, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions Administer benefits enrollment, workers' compensation claims, and leave (FMLA and state leave laws) Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws (FLSA, OSHA recordkeeping, wage & hour) Coordinate payroll inputs (hours, overtime) with payroll provider Maintain HRIS and personnel files; produce headcount and turnover reports Support performance reviews, PIPs, and terminations with proper documentation Organize safety and skills training for field crews Qualifications3–5 years of HR generalist experience, ideally supporting blue-collar, construction, renovation, manufacturing, or field-services workforces Bilingual Mandarin and English (required) — daily work with Mandarin-speaking field staff Working knowledge of US employment law: FLSA, FMLA, workers' comp, I-9/E-Verify Experience with high-volume recruiting for skilled trades strongly preferredHRIS proficiency (e.g., ADP, BambooHR, Gusto); solid Excel/Google Sheets skills Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred; SHRM-CP/PHR a plus Hands-on, field-friendly style — comfortable visiting job sites, not just sitting at a desk
