About the role
Description of Job Duty: The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Tennessee Technological University invites applications for a tenure‐track Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field and will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop an externally funded research program, mentor students, and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. The position offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and community outreach. While all research areas will be considered, candidates with research interests that support the department's existing areas of inquiry, particularly bio-focused research, are encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications:
Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field (required).Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses and labs effectively. Ability to teach graduate courses and supervise graduate research. Evidence of a strong research agenda with potential for external funding. Record of scholarly publications in reputable journals. Commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Eligibility for tenure‐track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes is a plus. Demonstrated ability to teach graduate courses, supervise graduate research and secure external funding to support research.
Essential Functions:
Teach undergraduate chemical engineering courses and laboratory sections. Teach graduate-level chemical engineering courses and supervise graduate research. Develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in professional development. Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to departmental, college, university and other professional service activities. Seek interdisciplinary collaborations within and beyond the university. Engage in outreach activities to promote engineering education in the community. Assist in student recruitment, retention, and advising efforts. Maintain professional development and stay current with advances in chemical engineering.
Physical Demands:
Those typical to an office/classroom environment.
