About the role

Position Summary: Piedmont Candy Company is seeking a mechanically inclined Equipment Sanitation Technician to clean and sanitize production machinery at our candy manufacturing facility. This hands-on role involves basic equipment disassembly and reassembly, using hand tools, and following detailed cleaning and food safety procedures. The ideal candidate understands how machinery works, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in keeping equipment clean and ready for production.
Key Responsibilities: Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery components, and related work areas according to established procedures. Perform basic disassembly and reassembly to access and clean equipment components. Use hand tools safely and keep removed parts organized to prevent damage or loss. Follow equipment shutdown, lockout/tagout, and other safety procedures as trained and authorized. Use approved cleaning chemicals and required personal protective equipment. Inspect equipment during cleaning and report worn parts, damage, or other concerns to maintenance. Complete sanitation checklists and cleaning records accurately. Coordinate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to prepare equipment for use. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety requirements.
Qualifications: Mechanical aptitude and comfort using basic hand tools. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and detailed cleaning procedures. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently after training. Dependable attendance and a commitment to safe work practices. Manufacturing, machine operation, equipment cleaning, sanitation, or maintenance experience preferred. Food manufacturing experience is a plus. Work Environment and
Physical Requirements: Work in a manufacturing environment around machinery, noise, heat, and cleaning chemicals. Stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, and handle equipment components. Safely perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
