Stability Chemist – R&D Join a growing personal care manufacturer as a Stability Chemist in our R&D team, reporting to the R&D Director.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Developing, adjusting, and optimizing formulations for skincare, cosmetic, household, and specialty products
Preparing lab-scale batches and supporting scale-up and troubleshooting with production teams
Conducting accelerated and real-time stability studies to determine shelf life
Testing samples for appearance, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, weight loss, assay, and preservative efficacy
Coordinating outside lab testing such as HRIPT, kill testing, and assay
Collaborating with Sales and Project Management on customer projects and resolving out-of-spec results
Maintaining accurate records of formulations, stability reports, and weekly activities
Ensuring a clean, safe laboratory environment following safety protocols
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related science
Over 1 year of hands-on formulation or R&D lab experience in personal care, cosmetics, OTC, or consumer products
Knowledge of emulsions, surfactants, and preservative systems
Experience with stability testing, pH meters, viscometers, homogenizers, and analytical balances
Strong Excel skills and meticulous documentation habits
Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to grow into senior formulation roles
