About the Role:
The Company is seeking a Chief Publishing Officer (CPO) to lead the evolution of its publications program. The CPO will be responsible for developing and implementing a market-informed publishing strategy, modernizing publishing operations, and fostering key relationships both within the organization and with select outside partners. This role requires a mission-driven individual with at least 10 years' experience in professional or scholarly publishing, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal publishing, a proven track record in managing a publishing portfolio with significant annual revenue, and experience in all aspects of publishing, from development to sales. The CPO will also be tasked with leading a team, mentoring staff, and integrating the publishing program into the broader organizational goals. Applicants for the Chief Publishing Officer position at the company should possess a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and have a deep commitment to advocating for equity, particularly for low-income and marginalized communities. The role demands outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to lead change in a mission-aligned manner, and a strong understanding of the publishing industry, including modernizing initiatives and vendor management. Experience in developing and executing publishing strategies, particularly for subscription products with institutional customers, is essential.
