About the role
- Run the monthly and quarterly close calendar end to end, working with our outsourced bookkeeper: reconciliations, accruals, revenue recognition, revenue share calculations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
- Serve as the day-to-day owner of the relationship with our outside CPA firm — prepare required workpapers, drive the timeline, and close out open items.
- Prepare management reporting and the financial packages that go to leadership, lenders, and investors.
- Support the annual financial review and tax cycle by assembling schedules and answering questions from the outside firm. Prospect Economics and Advisor-Facing Analysis (~30%)
- Build and maintain economic comparison models for prospective advisors: current-state compensation and practice economics versus Indivisible revenue share, equity participation, and projected enterprise value.
- Tailor the model to each prospect’s book and stress-test the assumptions.
- Turn the output into presentations that a sophisticated advisor will trust — clean, honest, and transparent.
- Participate in prospect conversations, hear the objection, and come back with the analysis that answers it. Financial Messaging and Thought Partnership (~30%)
- Help shape how we talk about our economics — to prospective advisors, to investors, and internally.
- Pressure-test the story. Keep tabs on competing models to maintain an ongoing sense of what differentiates us.
- Build and provide input to the recurring materials that carry that message: board and investor updates, pipeline and growth reporting, and KPI dashboards. Business Administration (~20%)
- Prepare and submit insurance applications and renewals (E&O, D&O, cyber, general business) and manage the broker relationship.
- Handle finance-adjacent administrative work: state registrations and filings, expense and accounts payable workflows, and entity and corporate records.
- Notice opportunities for process improvement and deliver them.
- 5-8 years of combined experience spanning financial analysis and modeling and accounting or close. Common paths include public accounting followed by a corporate FP&A or corporate development seat; investment banking or transaction advisory followed by an operating finance role; or an operating finance role at a small company where you did all of it.
- Strong modeling ability. You can build a multi-year, driver-based model from a blank sheet, and you favor clarity over complexity.
- Working command of GAAP and comfort owning a close cycle in a small-company environment, coordinating with an outside CPA and bookkeeper rather than a department.
- Excellent written and verbal communication. You can explain a discounted enterprise value to an audience that has never built a model, and you write clearly and concisely.
- Self-direction. This is a remote role at an early-stage firm. You will have mentorship and room to develop, and you will also be trusted to drive your own day-to-day and raise tradeoffs when priorities collide.
- Comfort using AI tools as a real part of your workflow — for process improvement, modeling support, drafting, research, and analysis. We expect you to get faster at this over time, not to have mastered it on day one.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves disposition. We are a startup. Everyone here does some unglamorous work, including the people you will report to. Helpful, Not Required
- CPA, CFA, or progress toward either.
- Experience in wealth management, RIAs, broker-dealers, or financial services M&A — particularly with advisor compensation structures, AUM-based revenue models, or practice valuation.
- Experience preparing materials for investors, lenders, or a board. If you are strong on most of this but not all of it, we would still like to hear from you. We care more about range and judgment than a perfect checklist. How We Work:
- Remote, with intent. We are distributed and we plan to stay that way for the medium term. That means we over-communicate in writing, we default to transparency, and we hire people who do their best work with autonomy. Occasional travel for team meetings and prospect meetings.
- Small and fast. Your work will be immediately visible to leadership.
- Firm-wide exposure. You will report to the CFO. In practice you will work directly with several members of the leadership team, taking on analysis they are doing themselves today. It is unusual exposure — you will see how the business gets built, not just the finance corner of it.
- Health benefits (medical, dental, and vision) Flexible Time Off and Paid Company Holidays
- Paid Parental Leave 401k and matching
- Remote Work
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
