About the role
- Operate machines to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement according to required machining sequences
- Confer with shift leads and managers to resolve machine malfunctions or production obtain approval to continue production
- Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems
- Check to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
- Clean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents or solutions and rags
- Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction
- Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions
- Follow work instructions to operate machine control units to start and stop operation
- Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, or numerical control sequences
- Help to maintain necessary inventory of manufacturing supplies
- Assist with cycle counting of material to ensure inventory integrity
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not requiredPrevious experience in a manufacturing setting preferred, but not requiredPrevious experience with machinery, basic machine set up, and small power tools preferred, but not required
- Must be able to read a tape measure
- Able to work and handle multiple job assignments, communicate in team setting, maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Physical ability to lift or carry weight up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work for extended hours while standing, walking, bending, stooping, leaning, and lifting
