About the role

Role Description: Plant People is looking for a hands-on AI Adoption Lead to embed with our team and make AI a practical, connected part of how we work every day. You’ll partner directly with department heads to identify opportunities, build and deploy AI agents and automations, and help employees use them confidently. Your mandate is to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve collaboration across the business—with measurable results. This role combines building, coaching, and operational ownership. You’ll become a consistent presence on our team, working alongside employees from initial idea through implementation and ongoing improvement. You bring direct experience working within or alongside an omnichannel consumer packaged goods (CPG) business and understand how retail, e-commerce, marketplaces, marketing, and operations connect. You’ll use that experience to build AI solutions grounded in the realities of our business—from retail sell-through and inventory planning to customer acquisition and retention.
Key Responsibilities: Lead weekly department working sessions. Meet with department heads to understand priorities, identify repetitive work and bottlenecks, and turn opportunities into working solutions. Build and maintain agents and automations. Connect AI tools with our existing systems, test outputs, troubleshoot issues, and improve workflows based on real usage. Enable daily cross-department coordination. Build a process through which departmental agents share relevant updates, flag dependencies and duplicated efforts, and surface opportunities for company-wide improvements—with clear human ownership of decisions and actions. Create a shared AI workspace. Select and implement an integrated environment for company knowledge, agents, and workflows, using a platform such as Notion or another solution suited to our needs. Turn employees into confident AI champions. Provide practical training, individual coaching, office hours, and simple playbooks grounded in each team’s actual work. Own a prioritized implementation roadmap. Balance quick wins with longer-term improvements, focusing on business value, ease of adoption, and maintenance needs. Measure and communicate results. Track adoption, time saved, costs, speed, and quality; share clear progress updates with leadership. Build for lasting ownership. Keep documentation current, establish appropriate data access and approval controls, and ensure employees can understand and sustain the systems you create.
Qualifications
Required: Experience in an omnichannel CPG business, spanning brick-and-mortar retail, direct-to-consumer e-commerce, and marketplaces such as Amazon. You understand the workflows and dependencies across sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, and customer experience, including retailer and distributor relationships, inventory management, promotions, and channel profitability. Experience in supplements, wellness, or food and beverage is a plus. Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI agents and automations that teams use in their day-to-day work. Ability to connect business systems through APIs, automation platforms, and code when needed. Strong judgment in selecting AI tools and identifying where AI can meaningfully improve a business process. Experience taking projects from workflow discovery through launch, training, measurement, and ongoing support. An approachable teaching style and the ability to build trust with non-technical teammates. Strong operational and analytical skills, including defining success metrics and evaluating benefits against implementation and ongoing costs. Practical understanding of data privacy, permissions, output reliability, and human review. Ability to work independently while remaining closely connected to a remote team. Experience in consumer products, e-commerce, or wellness is a plus.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
