About the role

Primary Purpose : Performs major and minor mechanical repairs. Overhauls body/fender fabrication, and general maintenance of equipment, trucks, vehicles, and other automotive and power equipment. Must exercise good judgment and discretion as it relates to decisions of repair and replacement of components for general vehicle safety.
Essential Functions: Performs complex work in the repair and maintenance of automotive and power equipment. Determines the extent and type of repairs required. Estimates the cost of the repairs. Provides preventative maintenance service on engines and brakes. Overhauls and renews wheel cylinders, pads, rotors, and drums. Services ignition and fuel delivery systems. Oversees vehicle preventative maintenance programs and documentation. Performs lubrication, oil and oil filter changes, and other fluid changes. Enters work order in the fleet documentation system. Maintains records of repairs and maintenance work and makes recommendations for fleet assignments and replacement. Maintains shop tools and equipment. Ensure operational safety procedures are followed. Maintains the shop, keeping the work environment safe, clean, organized, and in an orderly condition. Responds to emergency breakdowns. Repair the vehicle at the emergency site, including after hour emergencies.
