About the role
- Certification by the American Board of Medical Dosimetry or eligibility to sit for the exam required for Dosimetrist
- Bachelors degree or higher 3 years of full-time dosimetry experience preferred
- Knowledgeable in the operation of radiotherapy equipment, including linear accelerators, cobalt teletherapy units, simulators, dosimetric equipment, brachytherapy equipment, computerized treatment planning systems, and record and verification/patient information management systems.
- Proficient in external beam and brachytherapy treatment planning.
- Ability to perform and analyze in-vivo and in-phantom measurements.
- Knowledgeable of current radiotherapy treatment techniques.
- Ability to assess and plot radiation dose distributions.
- Skill in providing treatment planning and dose-calculation services for patient treatment and diagnosis with external, interstitial, intracavitary, and distributed internal sources.
- Knowledge of the principles of radiation safety and Health Physics.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, clinical oncology, radiobiology, radiation physics.
- Experience in the reading of x-ray films to determine anatomical sites.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within the context of radiotherapy.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, to exercise diplomacy in dealing with others, to secure cooperation from colleagues, and to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.
- Ability to appropriately interact with and provide special assistance to various age groups of patients, i.e., pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Skill in mathematics including algebra and trigonometry
