Opening Date 10/05/2026 Closing Date 10/19/2026 4:00 PM Mountain FLSA Non-Exempt Description / Position Overview The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome Equipment Operator I's to the pavement operations team! As an Equipment Operator you will perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks for the City's Public Works Department. You will operate a variety of equipment to include asphalt pavers, milling machines, rollers, loaders, back-hoes, skid steers, pothole trucks and compaction equipment to repair and maintain streets and alleys. Anticipated Schedule 6:30AM - 5:00PM. Either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday depending on crew assignment after hire. Click here to view the 2026 Salary Schedule | City of Colorado Springs As An Equipment Operator I, You Will Operate single/tandem axle dump trucks, plows, and sanders during snow removal. Transport materials and equipment to/from work sites. Safely use, service, and make minor repairs to tools and equipment. Perform manual labor such as shoveling, debris removal, and site clean-up. Assist other Public Works teams as business needs require. Follow all safety procedures and maintain accurate work records. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED
One year of professional, full-time experience in general construction, manual labor or a related field Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions Possess, or obtain within one year of hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado CDL Class B driver's license which is not subject to restrictions related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

Physical Demands The position requires the ability to pull, reach, bend, climb, kneel, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently, and use fingers, hands, and legs; distinguish colors, and safely operate assigned vehicle and equipment.
