About the role
We are seeking an experienced Physical Security Field Technician to join a growing technical services team supporting commercial, educational, governmental, and other customer environments throughout Florida. This position is intended for someone who can step into an installation with minimal supervision and has substantial hands-on experience working with access control systems at the panel and door-hardware level. The ideal candidate understands how the complete system comes together—from cable installation and controller wiring to power supplies, electrified locking hardware, programming, testing, and troubleshooting. This is not primarily a reader-installation position. Candidates should be comfortable working inside access-control panels, making terminations, diagnosing wiring and power issues, and bringing systems online.*MUST HAVES*· Ability to travel within the State of Florida consistent with project demands.· Clean State of Florida Driver’s License (insurance purposes to drive company vehicles)· Ability to pass a random drug test· Ability to pass a background check to work with Florida Schools and Police Departments
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, configure, test, and service electronic access control systems. Perform hands-on installation and wiring of access control controllers and panels. Connect and troubleshoot power supplies, relays, request-to-exit devices, door position switches, and other system components. Install and connect electrified door hardware, including electric strikes, magnetic locks, and related locking devices. Pull, route, label, terminate, and test CAT6, composite, and other low-voltage cabling. Install and service security cameras, intercom systems, alarm devices, motion sensors, keypads, duress devices, and associated equipment. Diagnose problems involving power, wiring, communication, hardware, and system configuration. Verify completed installations against drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system documentation to determine installation requirements. Assist with system commissioning, testing, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance. Communicate with equipment manufacturers and technical support teams when troubleshooting or deploying new technology. Provide technical assistance to customers and internal team members when required. Participate in training and certification programs for supported security manufacturers. Occasionally provide technical direction to junior technicians or assist in coordinating a small field crew. Travel to customer sites throughout Florida based on project requirements.
Required Experience:
3+ years of hands-on access control installation experience preferred. Demonstrated experience installing and wiring access control panels/controllers, not simply installing card readers. Practical experience connecting access control systems to power supplies and field devices. Experience installing and connecting electric strikes, magnetic locks, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, and other electrified door hardware. Experience troubleshooting completed installations and identifying wiring, power, hardware, and communication problems. Experience pulling and terminating CAT6 and/or composite low-voltage cabling. Ability to understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and installation drawings. Working knowledge of basic IP networking, including TCP/IP, switches, addressing, and connectivity troubleshooting. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently in the field while also collaborating effectively with other technicians.
