Packaging Mechanic: The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for the setup, changeover, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of bottle packaging production lines to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation. The role requires strong mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills, knowledge of packaging equipment, and the ability to independently configure and maintain multiple machines across a production line.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform moderate to complex mechanical adjustments, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on bottle packaging and pneumatic equipment. Perform machine setup and changeovers, including full-line configuration of multiple packaging machines independently. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and basic electrical systems and identify equipment failures to minimize production downtime. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment including bottle unscramblers, tablet counters, fillers, cappers, induction sealers, labelers, banders, shrink tunnels, conveyors, cartoners, case packers, case tapers, and dust collectors. Perform daily preventive and predictive maintenance on packaging equipment, conveyors, compressors, and related plant machinery. Use diagnostic equipment such as multimeters/VOMs, process calibrators, tachometers, automated vision systems, CMMS, micrometers, and calipers to inspect and troubleshoot equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, and work orders to complete repairs and maintenance activities. Diagnose equipment problems, disassemble machinery, replace or repair components, test equipment, and make necessary adjustments. Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and facility mechanical maintenance as required. Complete maintenance work orders and accurately document repairs, inspections, machine adjustments, and preventive maintenance activities. Identify faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual equipment conditions and promptly communicate issues to appropriate supervision.
