About the role

Principal Technical Program Manager Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead cross-organizational hardware component initiatives within our Core Hardware Engineering organization. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical and electrical components that power the entire AWS server fleet, from early architecture and design through manufacturing readiness, production ramp, and long-term fleet sustainment. Core Hardware Engineering is a horizontal organization that provides foundational hardware engineering capabilities across multiple vertical product lines within AWS Infrastructure. The mechanical portfolio includes fans, heatsinks, liquid cooling systems, cold plates, quick disconnects, chassis, rack frames, cables, and connectors. The electrical portfolio includes motherboards, power boards, system boards, PCIe switches and retimers, CPUs, and memory. As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will own the strategy and delivery of component-level outcomes that serve every server platform in the AWS fleet. You will define and deliver complex component initiatives with broad cross-organizational impact in areas where business and architectural strategy has not yet been established. Your work begins before vertical server programs are formally defined and extends through manufacturing and long-term fleet sustainment, an end-to-end lifecycle span unique to this role. You will own a portfolio spanning multiple component domains, dozens of active qualifications, concurrent technology transitions, and fleet-wide operations. You will orchestrate deliverables across multiple hardware engineering teams, managing prioritization and trade-offs between design, new product introduction, manufacturing, and sustaining operations to ensure engineering capacity is allocated against the highest-impact work. You will drive strategic supplier relationships to reduce component lead times, establishing joint development roadmaps, negotiating capacity commitments ahead of demand signals, and creating multi-source qualification paths. You will hold commitments across vertical product teams, data center operations, manufacturing test teams, and external vendors, establishing scalable mechanisms for roadmap inspection, manufacturing readiness reviews, and cross-team dependency tracking that operate independently of your direct involvement. You will deliver four primary outcomes: entitlement performance, manufacturing readiness, annualized failure rate and unsellable performance, and supply continuity, translating directly into platform readiness, cost reduction, and stability at scale.
Basic Qualifications: 7+ years of technical product or program management experience- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience- Experience managing the full hardware product lifecycle from design through manufacturing ramp and sustaining operations.- Experience driving cross-organizational programs spanning multiple engineering teams, manufacturing operations, and external suppliers.- Experience with component-level hardware development including mechanical and electrical systems.- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred
Qualifications: 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules- Direct experience with server or data center hardware at scale, including familiarity with ODM and JDM engagement models.- Experience driving supplier development strategies, including joint development roadmaps, capacity planning, and multi-source qualification.- Demonstrated ability to operate with complete independence in ambiguous environments where business and architectural strategy has not yet been defined.- Experience establishing organizational mechanisms such as roadmap reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, and supplier business reviews that persist and scale beyond individual involvement.- Track record of delivering measurable business outcomes tied to total cost of ownership, time-to-market, manufacturing yield, and fleet reliability.- Experience with firmware and software integration as it relates to hardware component readiness and platform bring-up.- Master's degree in Engineering or an MBA.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
