About the role

An established New York construction management and general contracting firm is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent for a major healthcare project in Brooklyn, NY. The project consists of the construction of a new exterior elevator tower at an active hospital facility, with an approximate construction value of $53 million. This is a long-term opportunity for a Superintendent with a strong background managing public-sector construction projects in NYC.
Key Responsibilities: Manage daily field operations and overall site activities. Coordinate subcontractors, trades, deliveries, inspections, and manpower. Drive the construction schedule and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules. Ensure work is completed according to drawings, specifications, and contract requirements. Coordinate with the PM, APM, Site Safety Manager, design team, and client representatives. Manage logistics within an active healthcare environment. Monitor quality, productivity, safety, and overall project progress. Identify and resolve field conflicts quickly. Lead subcontractor and field coordination meetings. Maintain daily reports and accurate field documentation. Oversee inspections, punch list, commissioning, and project closeout. Ensure compliance with NYC DOB and project-specific safety requirements.
Qualifications: Public project experience is a MUST.7+ years of Superintendent experience with a General Contractor or Construction Manager. Strong experience delivering NYC public-sector projects. Healthcare, hospital, institutional, or other complex commercial construction experience preferred. Experience working within active/occupied facilities is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, logistics, MEP coordination, and subcontractor management. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents. Strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of NYC DOB and site safety requirements. Relevant NYC Superintendent/SST credentials preferred.
