About the role

Assistant Reservoir Surveyor We're dedicated to protecting the environment and enhancing the communities we serve. Our mission goes beyond delivering one of life's essentials; we're committed to sustainability and making a positive difference across our region. Join us to be part of something meaningful and lasting that will leave a legacy for generations to come. If you want to do more, because you care, we want to talk to you. With that in mind, we're looking for an Assistant Reservoir Surveyor to join our Dams and Reservoir Team. As our Assistant Reservoir Surveyor, you'll be based from home, using it as your starting point each day, but you'll rarely be behind a desk for long. This is a predominantly field-based role, with most days spent travelling across the Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy (wales) region, visiting reservoirs and operational sites to carry out inspections, support deformation monitoring and surveying activities, and help ensure our assets remain safe, compliant and performing at their best. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that involves working in all weather conditions on some of our most impressive assets. You'll help ensure compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975 by capturing highly accurate measurements using the latest surveying technology. These measurements inform key decisions about the performance and condition of our structures, helping to safeguard them for generations to come. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, outdoor work and is excited about using cutting-edge technology. While surveying experience is an advantage, it's not essential. If you bring the right attitude, positivity, curiosity, and a caring approach, we'd love to hear from you. Full training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for professional development. The successful candidate will be expected to actively work towards achieving Technical Member (TCInstCES) status with the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, supported by a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as future career progression opportunities including advancement to the role of Reservoir Surveyor. A full UK driving licence is essential, as the role involves travel and overnight stays across both the Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy regions. While the ideal candidate will be based towards the western area of the Severn Trent region, we welcome applications from candidates across the wider area and would encourage you to apply if you feel you are the right person for the role. Working in remote locations means you'll be responsible for your own health and safety, as well as the safety of your colleagues and others who may be affected by your work. Experience of working safely and operating compliantly is therefore essential. It's not just a job; it's a career. We offer benefits that reward great work and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. Plus, you'll contribute to the environment and community too. Here are some of our favourites: 25 days holiday + bank holidays (and the option to buy or sell up to five days per year) Company van Annual bonus scheme (up to £1,500 per annum, based on company performance) Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%) Sharesave – the chance to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discounted rate Dedicated training and development through our 'Academy' Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers Family-friendly policies Two volunteering days per year

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
