About the role
Job DescriptionThe Vice President of Procurement (Supply Chain) is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies across Union Supply Group's (USG) wholesale and food operations within the corrections commissary space. This leader oversees category managers and buyers in Texas and California while serving as the primary procurement liaison between USG and the broader Aramark enterprise sourcing organization. The role is accountable for the full spectrum of purchasing activities: vendor management, cost optimization, inventory integrity, and cross-functional alignment with sales, finance, marketing, and operations. As USG expands its presence in the corrections commissary market — competing directly in the wholesale and food product segments — this leader will set departmental direction, build team capability, and champion private label growth as a key competitive differentiator.Job ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsProcurement Strategy & SourcingDevelop and implement cost-effective procurement strategies across CPG food, general merchandise, and wholesale categories while maintaining inventory levels to support business growth.Monitor commodity and food market trends to proactively identify supply chain risks and opportunities.Execute strategic commodity plans with rigor and a capacity for both tactical execution and long-term thinking.Vendor & Supplier ManagementEstablish and maintain relationships with key suppliers across food, CPG, and general merchandise wholesale sectors.Negotiate contracts, rebate programs, and distribution exclusivity agreements with a primary focus on private label opportunities.Oversee supplier performance — establishing specifications, monitoring quality and delivery, and leading corrective action and continuous improvement programs.Private Label & Product DevelopmentLead growth in private label product development, identifying and implementing new products to compete in the corrections commissary space.Manage new item timelines to ensure product launches are completed on schedule.Inventory & OperationsManage the ordering and replenishment process to meet service levels, inventory turns, cost accuracy, SKU management, and overstock objectives.Achieve and maintain a 99%+ customer order fill rate while minimizing dead stock.Lead departmental systems enhancements, including Microsoft Dynamics improvements.Cross-Functional CollaborationServe as the primary link between USG and Aramark enterprise sourcing, ensuring alignment across shared CPG and food suppliers.Lead cross-functional sales meetings to propose procurement solutions that support business acquisition and retention.Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations on promotions, pricing, catalog reviews, and new item introductions.Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop category managers, buyers, and replenishment team members.Establish and monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement in sourcing capabilities.Administer HR responsibilities including hiring, performance appraisals, and employee developmentQualifications12+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in large-scale CPG organizations, ideally including food and wholesale.5+ years managing distributed teams; 2–5 years of private label experience.Superior analytical, negotiating, and communication skills.Advanced Excel; proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics, PowerPoint, and MS Office tools.Experience in wholesale distribution, CPG, or correctional commissary strongly preferred.EducationBachelors preferredAbout AramarkOur MissionRooted in service and united by our purpose, we strive to do great things for each other, our partners, our communities, and our planet.At Aramark, we believe that every employee should enjoy equal employment opportunity and be free to participate in all aspects of the company.
