About the role

New Horizons is looking for small groups (2-3 people) or individuals to come in once or twice a month, Monday - Friday between 8:30am - 10:30am to prepare or provide hot and cold breakfast items for 30 - 35 young adults. Breakfast items include eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes or hash browns, pancakes, hot and cold cereals, fruit, muffins, juice and milk. Groups or individuals will work directly with breakfast staff on menu selection and meal preparation. Breakfast is served Monday - Friday from 9:30am - 10:30am. Volunteer group leaders will be required to obtain a Washington State Food Handler's Card that will be kept on file. A link to the website will be provided to group leaders by the Volunteer & Food Service Manager. The group leader along with the Food Service Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the group or individual adheres to the food handling guidelines. If you have questions, please reach out to our Volunteer and Food Service Manager, Rodney Scott (rodneys@nhmin.org or call 206.374.0866) so we can provide you more information on this volunteer opportunity. Thank you for your interest in supporting youth and young adults experiencing homelessness in our community!

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
