About the role

Job Description: Job Description VDC Manager BIM Coordination Leader Multi-Trade Experience Required Prefab Preferred Garland, TX100% in office
Salary range: $100,000-$114,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Mechanical Partners, Inc. (MPI) is seeking an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Manager to lead BIM strategy, model coordination, and prefabrication support across plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and hydronic piping projects throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth market. This role is centered on multi-trade BIM coordination. Experience supporting prefabrication and fabrication-shop workflows is a significant advantage, especially for candidates who have driven coordination from design through field installation.
THE OPPORTUNITY: Own the BIM/VDC process from design coordination through fabrication and field turnover, driving clash-free models, maximizing prefabrication, and ensuring seamless handoff to project and field teams. What You Will Lead: VDC/BIM strategy and execution across multiple concurrent projects, from design assist through model-based fabrication and field installation. Coordination models spanning plumbing, HVAC, electrical, structural, and architectural trades, ensuring compliance with contract documents and constructability standards. BIM kickoff and coordination meetings, including modeling standards, level-of-development (LOD) requirements, coordination schedules, and issue tracking. Prefabrication planning and execution in partnership with project management, the fabrication shop, and field teams. Model Development & Coordination: Review contract drawings, specifications, addenda, and shop standards to establish modeling scope, LOD requirements, and coordination sequencing. Develop, manage, and QA discipline-specific and combined coordination models, resolving clashes across all trades and tracking issues to closure. Maintain BIM execution plans, coordination schedules, and model-update logs aligned with the general contractor's master schedule. Extract and manage fabrication data, spool sheets, point files, and installation drawings for shop and field use. Administer model-sharing environments (BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud), file management protocols, and version control across the project team. Field & Fabrication Support: Partner with General Superintendents, Superintendents, Foremen, and the fabrication shop to translate coordinated models into accurate prefabrication packages and installation sequencing. • Support layout and field verification of installed conditions against the coordinated model, including point-file preparation for robotic total-station layout. Promptly escalate significant coordination, schedule, design, or constructability concerns. Train and support field and project staff in the use of VDC tools and model-based workflows. Customer & Project Communication: Serve as MPI's primary VDC point of contact with general contractors, design teams, and other trade partners during coordination. Lead coordination meetings and present model status, open issues, and resolutions clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent. 5+ years of field experience in commercial construction, with direct exposure to plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or piping trades. Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD MEP. Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and coordination schedules. Strong organizational, analysis, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent coordination efforts and identify constructability risks early. • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

  • 10+ years of field experience in commercial construction is highly sought.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
