About the role
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and identify patient needs
- Provide individualized nursing care using the Nursing Process
- Assess, treat, and provide nursing care appropriate to patients of all ages
- Safely administer medications and perform unit-specific clinical procedures
- Recognize subtle, abnormal, or changing signs and symptoms and respond appropriately
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate changes to physicians and the healthcare team
- Provide appropriate patient and family education
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Follow hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety standards
- Maintain infection prevention practices, including central line and Foley catheter protocols
- Participate in emergency response and community disaster activities as required
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends and emergency nursing practices
- Emergency Department Focus
- Provide nursing care for patients presenting with a broad range of emergency conditions
- UtilizeESI triageprinciples and complete the ESI triage course within six months of hire
- Utilize ED-specific standardized procedures appropriate to patient complaints and presentations
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Maintain readiness to participate in emergency and code situations
- Work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
- Maintain competency in emergency nursing practices and department-specific procedures
- ActiveCalifornia RN license
- CurrentBLS, ACLS, and PALScertificationsStrong clinical judgment, assessment, and critical-thinking skillsAbility to provide care across the full patient age spectrum, including pediatric and newborn patients
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple competing priorities
- Basic computer skillsAbility to work scheduled shifts, includingweeknights, weekends, holidays, call-backs, and on-call as required
- Willingness to participate in emergency response and community disaster activities as directed
