Special Education: Education Technicians II - Functional Life Skills Biddeford Middle School is seeking Special Education - Education Technicians II - Functional Life Skills. Family-friendly schedules, rewarding and meaningful work, and supportive teamwork are offered. Brief job duties include reviewing and reinforcing learning previously introduced by the classroom or special education teacher, assisting in drill and practice activities, participating in required workshops, performing non-instructional, non-evaluating functions, assisting in preparation of instructional materials, providing classroom management functions during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, etc., and alerting teachers to any problem or special information about an individual student. Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education and a Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education, are required. Appropriate education for Ed Technician Certification Level is needed. Successful prior classroom experience or working with students with special needs for the appropriate grade levels is preferred, but not required. Compensation is based on position, education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement, ranging from $21.70 to $32.67 per hour. Live and work in the Biddeford, Maine community, located along the Atlantic coastline with miles of beaches, views of the Saco River to its west, less than 20 minutes south of the Greater Portland Area, and less than two hours north of Boston.
