Innovar Group is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician for an established global manufacturer supporting critical-power systems. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced technician who understands how switchgear, automatic transfer switches, diesel generators and controls work together and can independently commission and troubleshoot those systems in the field. You’ll support installations, startups and service projects at facilities where reliable power is essential, including data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial operations and other critical environments. The team values technical capability, clear customer communication and a humble, collaborative approach.
What You’ll Do: Lead hands-on startup, testing and commissioning of switchgear, automatic transfer switches and integrated generator-control systems. Verify equipment readiness, control sequences and safe operation before energization and customer turnover. Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and controls issues across interconnected power systems. Troubleshoot generator paralleling, synchronization, load sharing and power-transfer operations. Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings and relay ladder logic to trace faults and identify root causes. Use PLCs, HMIs, protective relays and power-metering information to evaluate system status and troubleshoot equipment. Support equipment integration, upgrades, repairs and preventive maintenance. Communicate findings, project status and next steps clearly to customers and internal teams. Complete accurate service reports, test records and documentation.
What You Bring: Extensive hands-on field service experience with power distribution and control equipment, typically 10 or more years for this senior-level role. Direct experience independently starting up and commissioning low-voltage switchgear and automatic transfer switches, with exposure to medium-voltage equipment. Practical experience with diesel generators, generator controls and generator paralleling systems. The ability to troubleshoot across electrical equipment, generators and controls and understand how a problem in one area affects the complete system. Strong electrical fundamentals, safe work practices and experience using electrical test equipment. Comfort connecting to PLCs, navigating system information and interpreting logic for troubleshooting. PLC programming or code development is not required. Professional customer communication, sound judgment and the ability to remain calm during outages, startups and challenging service calls. A dependable, coachable approach and willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment. Availability for up to 75% travel, Pacific Time scheduling and paid on-call assignments.
Preferred Background: Experience with a switchgear manufacturer, generator manufacturer, electrical testing company, commissioning organization or critical-power service provider is especially valuable. Relevant experience may come from data centers, healthcare, utilities, wastewater, manufacturing or other critical facilities. OSHA 10, NFPA 70E training, NETA or NICET certification, an electrical license or apprenticeship, and manufacturer training are helpful. Equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
