About the role

As the founding entity of RAINBOW PARTNERS, Quanteam is a consulting firm specialized in Banking, Finance, and Financial Services. Through our core human values – proximity, teamwork, diversity, excellence – our 1000 expert consultants, hailing from 35 different nationalities, collaborate across 13 international offices: Paris, Lyon, New York, Montreal, London, Brussels, Luxembourg, Geneva, Lisbon, Porto, Casablanca, Madrid and Singapore. Context :We're hiring a Senior Java Architect / Principal Engineer to help design and build a new in-house FX Back Office Book of Record platform, a strategic, resilient system of record for the full post-trade lifecycle of FX transactions, replacing legacy infrastructure at a major Global Markets Technology organization. We're looking for someone who has already helped design, build, or significantly re-engineer a proprietary FX post-trade / back-office platform inside a bank or financial institution, and who can speak fluently to both the engineering and the FX operations side.
Your Role:
  • Define the target architecture for a new strategic FX Back Office / Book of Record platform
  • Design scalable, resilient, auditable Java services covering the full FX trade lifecycle: capture, validation, amendments, confirmations/matching, SSI management, CLS & non-CLS settlement, payments, netting, reconciliation, exception management
  • Build service-oriented / microservices architectures with event-driven, asynchronous workflows (Kafka or equivalent)
  • Integrate with front-office platforms, market/reference data, payments, SWIFT, CLS, GL/accounting, risk, and regulatory reporting
  • Stay hands-on in the codebase while setting architectural standards for transaction integrity, idempotency, and recovery
  • Mentor senior engineers and help drive engineering best practices
What We’re Looking For:
  • 10+ years in software engineering, ideally in Capital Markets
  • Expert-level Java, with deep experience in distributed, transaction-processing systems
  • Proven experience architecting or building a proprietary/in-house FX post-trade, back-office, or Book of Record platform
  • Strong grasp of FX transaction lifecycles (Spot, Forward, Swap, and/or NDF)
  • Experience with post-trade processes: confirmations, settlements, payments, netting, reconciliation
  • Exposure to CLS settlement and/or FX payment infrastructure; SWIFT or financial messaging standards
  • Strong relational database and transactional data modeling skills
  • Comfortable working directly with FX Ops, BAs, and Product Owners, architecture chops without losing the hands-on edge
Nice to have: Spring/Spring Boot, Kafka, REST/microservices, Oracle/PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD, ISO 20022, legacy-to-strategic platform migration experience.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
