About the role

Who we are: Level Liquidity is a systematic trading firm in sports and prediction markets. We care about high standards, real results, and doing things with integrity. We want people who are driven to be the best at what they do, who own their work end to end, and who would rather hear the truth than be told they did well. Great work here earns more trust and bigger problems to own. The job Build a player-level NBA game simulation model. What done looks like: a working simulation producing calibrated player and team outcome distributions, validated against real games, and shipped as clean, tested Python our engineers put into production. After that: strong work leads to more: new sports, new markets, and harder problems. You build the models. We handle trading, risk, and operations. This is for you if
  • You've built a sports model or simulation you're proud of, and you can show it.
  • You care more about whether a probability is right than whether the code is clever.
  • You'd rather be judged on results than effort.
  • You flag problems early instead of hoping nobody notices.
  • You can explain complicated ideas simply, to people who aren't experts in your field.
  • You want a small firm where good work turns into more responsibility and upside. This is not for you if
  • You need detailed instructions for every step.
  • You want a slow, predictable pace.
  • You think "it runs" means "it's done."
  • You take criticism of your work personally.
  • You'd rather explain away a mistake than own it. What you need
  • Strong probability and statistics: distributions, Monte Carlo methods, calibration.
  • Strong Python.
  • The ability to find and clean your own sports data.
  • Experience modeling basketball or other player-level sports is a big plus. Trading experience isn't required. What you get
  • Pay: $60–75/hr, with the top of the range for proven sports modeling experience
  • Long term: a path to profit participation for strong performers
  • Length: ongoing for the right person
  • Type: contract (1099), remote, US only (excluding California)
  • Start: now
How to apply: Skip the cover letter. Email with "Sports Modeler" in the subject line, and include:1. A link to the best model or simulation you've built (repo, write-up, or notebook).2. One time a model of yours was wrong, and how you found out.3. When you can start and compensation expectations. We only review applications sent by email. Shortlisted candidates walk us through their work on a call. We move fast. Applicants must be based in the US (excluding California) and authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor visas.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
